Student Conferences

Each year, the RMC theatre department takes students to several conferences. Among those we choose from are:

  • KCACTF (The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival) is a national organization that hosts eight regional festivals that ultimately lead to national recognition. Each regional festival recognizes individual students through awards and scholarships in playwriting, acting, directing, design, and criticism.
  • RMTA (Rocky Mountain Theatre Association), an organization that includes the states of Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming, hosts an annual festival that includes hands-on workshops in directing, acting, and stage management for college students. In addition, acting competitions award scholarships to students from participating productions. It is a forum for auditioning, competing, honing skills, sharing ideas, and networking. Four of the finest productions are selected to be presented each year.
  • USITT (United States Institute for Theatre Technology, Inc.) hosts an annual conference for over 3,000 educators, students, and professionals focusing on theatre design, production, and technology. Students get the opportunity to attend workshops, network with professionals in the industry, connect with graduate programs, and visit the Expo Hall with displays of the latest technology.
