Sarah, who has been teaching at Rocky since Fall of 2005, came to RMC after receiving her MFA in theatrical design from Western Illinois University. Originally from Texas, Sarah has fallen in love with the beauty of Montana and the community of family that thrives on RMC's campus.
Throughout the academic year, you may find Sarah teaching drafting in the Theatre Department's CAD lab, working with Introduction to Theatre students on their play outlines, making funny faces with the Stage Makeup class, wielding a paintbrush with the Scene Painting class, or running the table saw during shop. During the week before a production Sarah lives in the theatre, managing lights, scenery, and properties.
Sarah is an active member in USITT (United States Institute for Theatre Technology, Inc.), which keeps her in touch with leading professionals in the theatre industry. Sarah studied scene painting at Cobalt Studios in upstate New York and looks for any opportunity on or off campus to pull out her brushes. Sarah believes that active participation and hands-on experience is the key to success.
