3 Bears on NAIA's All-America team
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Seniors Joel Barndt and Jeremy Nicolas and junior Tyree Anderson, all of Rocky Mountain College, have been selected to the NAIA All-America teams, which were announced by the national office on Wednesday. Anderson, a 6-foot-3 junior guard from Las Vegas, was chosen to the third team. Barndt, a 6-9 senior forward from Billings, and Nicolas, a 6-6 senior center from Villepinte, France, received honorable mention recognition. Those three helped lead Rocky to the regular-season and conference-tournament championships this season. The Battlin' Bears also advanced to the NAIA national tournament for the second consecutive year. The All-America selections were made by the NAIA's All-America Committee. Marcel Towns, a senior guard from the University of Great Falls, was named to the second team. The honorable mention listing also included Tallon Robertson of Westminster College. Barndt to play in NAIA All-Star Game
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Rocky Mountain College's Joel Barndt will be playing in the first NABC-NAIA Men's Basketball All-Star Game on Saturday night at Municipal Auditorium. Barndt's NAIA Division I team will take on the NAIA Division II All-Stars at 7 p.m. (Mountain time). One of Barndt's teammates will be guard Marcel Towns of the University of Great Falls. The 6-foot-9 Barndt, a senior forward for the Battlin' Bears, averaged 17.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per game this season for Rocky, which won the Frontier Conference regular-season and postseason tournament titles this season and advanced to nationals. During his four-year career with the Bears, the former Billings Central star scored 1,406 points and grabbed 835 rebounds. Barndt was the Frontier's leading rebounder for the past two seasons.
