The Rocky Mountain College Cross Country program consists of both Men and Women. Men compete in a distance of 8 Kilometers (4.97 miles) with the Women competing at a distance of 5 Kilometers (3.1 miles).

11-08-2008RMC Men take 4th in ConferenceRocky's Joel Harris paced the young team to a fourth place finish in the Frontier Conference. Harris completed the 8K course in a 27:53 and crossed the finish line in 18th place. "Joel cracked the 28 minute barrier today and set a new personal best." said Coach King. "He has surpassed all of my expectations, Joel only started running seven months ago and for him to improve this much is amazing. It'll be fun to see what he can do in the next year." The rest of the Rocky Men were Mark Chase (34th) with a 30:20, Derek Enciso (35th) with a 30:58, Luka Kogo (36th) with a 31:07, Nick Tash (39th) with a 35:04, and Blake Johnson (41st) with a 40:37. "The fact that we beat a team is a huge accomplishment for this young team," said Coach King. "Every one of my athletes are new to the program and very inexperienced. This was a trial run for these guys, and now they all know what they need to do to improve. I would expect them to improve dramatically next year." |
10-25-2008RMC runs in Conference PreviewAfter a long drive to Lewiston, Joel Harris paced the Rocky team once again. Harris placed 55th overall with an 8k time of 28:29 and was the 19th out of Conference runners. Also running for the young RMC team was Mark Chase (91st), Luka Kogo (92nd), and Derek Enciso (94th). Rounding out the team was Blake Johnson. "The team wasn't very happy with their races today," said Coach King. "We tried some new rece preparation practices this weekend and discovered that we need to stick with what we were previously doing." After a long season of hard running the team is looking forward to tapering and peaking for the next race. "It is the time of year that the athletes should expect to run faster times." Next competition for the Rocky Cross Country teams will be back in Lewiston, ID on November 8th for the Frontier Conference Championships. |

10-04-2008Rain Proves to be Difficult for RMC RunnersRunning against several NCAA schools, the Rocky men ran well in the rain. Joel Harris lead the team with a 44th place finish in a time of 28:50. Mark Chase (54th) and Derek Enciso (55th) ran togeter and cross the finish line in 30:08 and 30:10. Also competing for Rocky was Nick Tash (63rd) and Blake Johnson (65th) "I think it was a real eye opener for the men this week," said Coach King. "I was very proud of them; however, I think it was a shock to them competing against this many quality NCAA runners." The next compitition for the Cross Country teams will be at home on October 11 at Riverfront Park. Several top NAIA schools will be competing in what is expected to be the largest college race in Billings history. |
09-20-2008Illness Takes Toll on RMCIllness took the spring out of the legs of several athletes this past weekend in Bozeman. Running against tough competition, the Rocky Men's Cross Country team finished in 11th place. MSU-Billings, narrowly escaped Rocky by eight points. "Considering the condition of my athletes, I am very happy with their performances," said Coach King. Leading the way for the third week in a row was Joel Harris. Harris placed 87th out of 119 runners with a time of 29:05. Mark Chase moved into the number two spot with a 98th place finish in a time of 30:00. The rest of the top five were Luka Kogo (101), Nick Tash (102), and Derek Enciso (106). It was the first time that the team ran the full five mile cross country distance. "We are defenately looking to rebound in Missoula," said King. Next action for the team will be on October 4 in Missoula, MT. |
09-13-2008Rocky is on the Rise
Rocky Mountain College beat their first team in school history. It was only the second time that RMC fielded a full team. Rocky's 162 points narrowly edged out MSU-Billings 165 points. Rocky placed sixth out of seven teams. Next week, Rocky Cross Country will be competing in Bozeman, Montana, at the Montana State University Cross Country Invitational located at the Bridger Creek Golf Course. It is reported that there will be 17 teams competing in what is to be expected to be the toughest competition for the squad. |
09-04-2008Harris Leads Rocky Men in First RaceWith a team full of inexperienced freshmen, Junior Joel Harris led the Last year Rocky had a total of three men on the team, this year six men competed in the first race. Joel Harris was the first Battl'n Bear runner to cross the finish line in third place. Mark Chase placed 7th with teammates Nick Tash (10th), Luka Kogo (11th) and Derek Enciso (12th) rounding out the top five finishers for Rocky.
Next week Rocky will be in Spearfish, SD competing against Black Hills State University, Concordia Moorhead, Dickinson State, Gillette College, MSU-Billings, and South Dakota Tech. |


It takes passion and dedication to compete in the sport of Cross Country. The team practices six days a week with running two-a-days Tuesday's and Thursday's. The season begins in early fall and runs through November. However, the running never stops for dedicated runners. To be competitive in college it takes a year round approach.
The RMC men finished in 7th place with a team score of 188. The rest of the top five Rocky men consisted of Mark Chase (66), Derek Enciso (67), Nick Tash (69), and Luka Kogo (71).
Running against nationally rated teams, the Rocky Cross Country team performed well. The Spearfish course is one of the toughest courses in the country. Joel Harris lead the team with a 24th place finish. Fellow teammate, Luka Kogo, was the second RMC running to cross the line in 39th place. Teammates Derek Enciso (41st), Mark Chase (45th), and Nick Tash (51st) rounded out the top five finishers.
Rocky Cross Country team to a second place finish Thursday at Riverfront Park. "I didn't know what to expect from this group," said Coach King. "Everyone on the team is new to the program...they really impressed me."
Other Rocky runners in the race competing unattached were Jordan RealBird (6th) and Dillon O'Fallon (8th).
