Position Description

Rocky Mountain College is currently seeking applications for the position of Academic Vice President. As a small residential college with a core curriculum firmly rooted in the liberal arts, we aim to hire an accomplished educator who can lead our faculty in the direction of continued excellence and toward the fulfillment of the College’s mission and core themes. The ideal candidate will have a deep commitment to the liberal arts and will possess a vision for student-centered higher education.

The Academic Vice President reports directly to the President of the College, serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet, and is responsible for the overall academic direction of the College, including general oversight of program development, assessment, and accreditation. 

The academic structure of the College consists of three divisions: arts and humanities, science and mathematics, and professional studies, which offer degrees in 24 disciplines. Unique professional programs complement the liberal arts and sciences, and our 83 faculty members serve a student body with highly diverse backgrounds and interests.


Minimum qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate;
  • Experience as a faculty member with teaching and scholarly qualifications that merit appointment as a tenured professor; and
  • Previous administrative experience within higher education, including having effectively managed a diverse faculty.

Preference will be given to those with an established record of success at an institution similar to Rocky Mountain College.
