RMC cheer squad models leadership at college spirit camp
BILLINGS, August 18, 2014 – The Rocky Mountain College cheer team attended its annual Universal Cheerleaders Association College Spirit camp August 5 to 9 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and brought home a passel of acclaim and trophies.
“The squad did amazing!” reported Kelsey Larson-Daer, head cheer coach and coordinator for advancement events.
The team competed in the small co-ed division, which included Montana State University, Seattle University, North Idaho College, and Pierce College. Other attendees included Portland State University, University of Montana, Washington State University, Eastern Washington University, and Boise State University.
Even though RMC was the smallest school to send a team, the Rocky Mountain College squad took first place in the cheer ranking and first overall in the small co-ed division, “which is a huge accomplishment,” said Daer. They were also awarded the Leadership Award voted upon by the attending schools.
The week focused on teambuilding as well as routine and stunt clinics. “The squad did an amazing job and represented RMC very well,” she said.
