Biography

Josh is an aviation program graduate of Rocky Mountain College. While he often says he came to Rocky Mountain College because it was the only school where he could fly and ski race, he readily admits it was the excellent academic curriculum, engaging professors, and overall atmosphere of encouragement and success that kept him here.

Josh has been involved with the RMC aviation program in various capacities since 2002. He became a flight instructor teaching all levels of instruction from private pilot through advanced levels of flight instructor students. Additionally, Josh was an adjunct professor in the classroom teaching various pilot ground school courses. Josh has served Rocky Mountain College Flight Operations as an assistant chief instructor, chief instructor, and director of flight operations. In all of these capacities, he has developed and improved flight curricula, enhanced safety standards, and worked directly with the Federal Aviation Administration on the operation of Rocky Mountain College's Part 141 Flight School Air Agency Certificate.

Josh’s professional pilot career outside of Rocky Mountain College began as a cargo pilot flying piston twin aircraft on midnight freight runs over the Rocky Mountains in the western U.S. He then transitioned to a company providing emergency air medical transport services for a hospital in Billings, Montana. As an air ambulance pilot, Josh transported critical-care patients both regionally and nationally with a crew of certified medical professionals capable of providing intensive medical care to adult, pediatric, neonatal, and maternal patients.

Josh is a current pilot employed part-time with a local Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate holder, where he holds a captain position. This allows Josh to bring a current pilot’s perspective to the classroom on a regular basis, allowing students to see the connection materials learned today have in practical application in their future careers.  Additionally, he was also an FAA-approved company check airman and company flight instructor responsible for training and testing company pilots.

Josh is excited to be back in the classroom, combining his passion of aviation and personal interest in the education of new aviation professionals.
