BILLINGS, Mont.- Senior forward Carter McCoy was tabbed the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the first honor of his career.
Carter McCoy, a senior from Chehalis, Washington, remains an anchor for one of the top defensive units in the NAIA. In Friday’s 81-65 win over Valley City State, he pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds, earning his first double-double of the season, along with a pair of blocked shots. He added another pair of blocks in Saturday’s 82-62 win over Mayville State, along with three steals and three rebounds. McCoy has led a Battlin’ Bear defense that has held their conference opponents under 70 points in nine of 11 conference matchups, as Rocky ranks fourth in the NAIA in defensive scoring, allowing just 64.9 points per game this season.
The award marks the first award of McCoy’s career, as he becomes the third different Battlin’ Bear this season to earn Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Player of the Week honors.
