Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Religious Thought
October 15, 2024 2024-10-15 21:56The Philosophy and Religious Thought program at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor. The successful candidate will have completed a PhD in philosophy or be ABD and close to completing their dissertation at the time of application. Candidates who have a PhD in religious studies are welcome to apply, but the focus of this position will be philosophy. The specific area and period of specialization is open; however, we seek candidates who can teach a broad range of courses. The position requires a credit load of 12 credits each semester (4/4), for a total of 24 credit hours per academic year.
Teaching requirements will likely include Introduction to Philosophy and Religious Studies, Classic Texts in Western Thought, Logic, Modern Philosophy, Religions of the World, and Ethics. While other courses may be open to a candidate’s area of expertise and research, the focus of this position will be teaching courses that count toward RMC’s Core Curriculum. Candidates with liberal arts teaching experience are preferred. The successful candidate will support and carry out the mission of the college as well as demonstrate a commitment to developing and enhancing a culture of rigor, excellence, and achievement. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025. The salary range starts in the mid $40,000s, and is commensurate with experience.
