Future Teachers, Future Scientists: Ponderosa 3rd Graders Visit Rocky

Last week, our Education program welcomed fifty curious 3rd graders from Ponderosa Elementary School to campus for a day of discovery and hands on learning.

Guided by Rocky education majors, the students explored campus, asked big questions, and rotated through math and science centers designed just for them. From problem solving activities to simple experiments, every station gave the 3rd graders a chance to see that learning is active, creative, and fun.

For our future teachers, the day was just as meaningful. They planned lessons, led small groups, and experienced what it feels like to support real learners, right here in our own community. Experiences like this are a powerful example of how Rocky pairs strong academic preparation with practical experience, mentorship, and service.

Thank you to Ponderosa Elementary School, our Education faculty, and the Rocky students who helped create a memorable day for these young learners. This is what purpose-driven education looks like: college students and elementary students learning side by side, each discovering what they’re capable of next!
