Safety at RMC
Safety is everyone’s responsibility, on the ground and in the air:
Mandatory safety meetings: Held each semester with industry pros and faculty—attendance is required!
Open reporting:
If you see a hazard, concern, or incident:
- All admitted students can enter in fall, spring, or summer.
- New Aeronautical Science (Professional Pilot) majors are assessed in March for fall flight slots.
- Due to demand, not all students fly in their first semester. Some begin with ground school and move to flight as slots open (spring or later).
- Fall first-year students who are participating in a varsity fall sport should expect to fly in later terms.
- Contact Admissions for guidance and updates on slot availability.
Three reporting methods are available:
- The SHORT (Safety Hazard Occurrence Recommendation Tracking) report allows for electronic and, if desired, anonymous submissions of reports relating to flight operations safety.
- A General Concern report may also be submitted if you witness a situation that is of concern or have a general recommendation or concern.
- A Safety Hazard or Incident Form may also be printed, filled out, and mailed to:
